Titans Select Chattanooga OL Corey Levin in 6th Round

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Corey Levin's dream scenario played out on Saturday.

Levin, an offensive lineman who played collegiately at Chattanooga, is now a member of the Tennessee Titans after being selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.

"It means everything to me," Levin said. "I can't wait to put in some work for the Titans."

Levin (6-5, 305) played guard and tackle at Chattanooga, where he was a three-time All-America performer and a two-time winner of the SoCon Jacobs Blocking Award. He's one of only players in league history to win the honor twice.

Levin started 51 games in his career, including 45 games in a row. Three of the top-5 rushing totals in school history came while Levin was a starter on the offensive line.

Levin said he expects to play guard in the NFL, but he said Titans assistant offensive line coach Mike Sullivan worked him out at center during the pre-draft process. He has great familiarity with Nashville, where his fiancée is from, and the Titans.

"I know we just got rid of Chance Warmack and there's a lot of spots on the depth chart in the interior and I know Ben Jones is a great center that you guys got from the Texans," Levin said. "(Taylor) Lewan is a great captain on that o-line and there's a lot of good guys to work with. You guys have a good culture there and I can't wait to be a part of it.

"I've grown to know (the Titans) and kind of pay attention to them. It was one of my dreams to come and play for the Titans. That's close to home and everyone can come watch me play on Sundays if I put in the work and get there."

The Titans have a lot of familiarity with Levin as well, Titans general manager Jon Robinson said.

"He played down the road at Chattanooga," Robinson said of Levin. "We went and worked him out privately. He'll play guard, we'll work him at center. He did a nice job of snapping in the workout. Another tough competitive lineman that will compete there."
The thought of blocking for quarterback Marcus Mariota?

Well, Levin likes the sound of that as well.

Levin was the 217th overall pick after the team traded back, with the Giants and Bengals.

"It's going to be great blocking for Marcus," he said. Even though I came from a small school, I blocked for quarterbacks that are the same style of play as Marcus Mariota. You guys might not be familiar with (Chattanooga QB) Jacob Huisman but he's a run/pass guy and our quarterback this past year at Chattanooga was a run/pass guy and I've always blocked for an athletic quarterback who's smart and has a great passion for the game. It's going to be fun. It's going to be great. I can't wait."
