NASHVILLE, Tenn. - New Titans draft picks Corey Davis and Adoree' Jackson met with reporters during a press conference on Friday at Saint Thomas Sports Park.

They were flanked by general manager Jon Robinson and head coach Mike Mularkey.

A look at some of the hot topics:

Big additions

In Davis, the Titans added a big-bodied, physical receiver who can go up and catch the football.

Jackson is a playmaker who will help immediately in the secondary, and the return game.

"We talked about adding two explosive playmakers to our football team," Robinson said. "And we couldn't be more excited than to have Corey and Adoree' part of the Titans family."

Mularkey said the team got better on both sides of the ball. He believes the addition of Davis in the passing game should open things up in the run game as well.

"Obviously it is going to have an impact for us," Mularkey said. "Adding speed, adding guys that can score with it in all three phases is a plus for us. There's nothing negative about what we acquired last night."

Fast friends

Davis and Jackson first met at the NFL Combine, but they followed each other on Twitter even before that meeting in Indianapolis.

"I was seeing stuff he was tweeting and it was pretty funny," Jackson said of Davis. "I finally got to meet him, and he's a genuine guy. ... He's a good guy to be around."

Davis and Jackson had their picture taken together on Thursday night, and flew from Philadelphia to Nashville on the team plane today.

"I knew a little bit about Adoree' before,'' Davis said. "He's a great competitor, a great guy. He has a great family and a great foundation and I am looking forward to playing with him."

"Iron Sharpens Iron"

Davis caught 97 balls for 1,500 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, and his 5,278 career receiving yards is an FBS record. He ranks second in NCAA history in career receiving touchdowns with 52.

He wants to use his 6-3, 209-pound frame to make plays in the NFL.

"I plan on putting a little bit more weight on, and using that to advantage any way that I can,'' Davis said. "I can play inside, outside, and whatever the team needs me to do."

Jackson said working against Davis should make him better.

"It is going to be great," Jackson said. "Because the conference we are in, and the type of big receivers. So for me to go against him every day in practice is going to help me out. Like the saying, "Iron sharpens iron." So it is going to be great to battle against each other. He is a great competitor and a great receiver.

"He has size, speed quickness and great hands."

Interaction with new teammates

Davis didn't meet Marcus Mariota on Friday, but he said he's texted back and forth with the Titans quarterback.

"I haven't met him yet, but will soon," Davis said. "(He was) pretty much congratulating me and welcoming me into the family."

Jackson said he reached out to secondary coach Deshea Townsend to get all the phone numbers of the defensive backs.

"I texted everybody to introduce myself formally and tell them I am ready to learn from them and work," Jackson said. "I just wanted to set that standard and tone so they know I am not here with the big head because I came here in the first round. I want to learn from them and get ready to work.

"I think it is going to be a great relationship with those guys."

Representing No.25

Davis will wear No.84 with the Titans, his college number at Western Michigan.

Jackson will wear No.25, the same number worn by another former USC Trojan -- running back LenDale White -- when he played with the Titans.

"I texted him as soon as I found out what number I was getting," Jackson said of White. "He was congratulating me, and said how proud he was of me. He said "I wore that number so you better turn up. I texted him back and said all right, "I got you."
